Joy Ride Tours is a family-owned, family-run bespoke bicycle tour company operating in Amsterdam. We provide exceptional private tours and also operate daily public City and Country Tours. Joy Ride Tours operates from April to September each year, and is open seven days per week for private tours. No public City and Country tours run on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Contemporary Amsterdam society arose from the ashes of World War II.
This tour has an emphasis on history. On it you will hear many unique and interesting stories about the tragedies and heroes from WWII. We discuss how the Dutch were forced into World War II, even though they desired neutrality. We stop at the Dutch Resistance Museum (entrance fee not included on tour) and later discuss how World War II effected the current politics of Amsterdam. We visit various World War II monuments, such as the Dockworkers Monument, the burial place of the last of Amsterdam's Resistance Fighters and many more. Many of the Nazis were forced to flee Amsterdam on bikes. We briefly follow their route and then take a peaceful ride along the river where just 70 years ago the last fighting in the City of Amsterdam took place.
Our meeting point is on the Museumplein behind the Rijks Museum in front of the iAmsterdam sign.
